The decision by Mayor Annette Groves and the Town of Caledon Council, in June 2024, to re- zone 5000 acres for 12 developments, almost all of them on prime agricultural land, abandons a long-established process for land use planning and environmental and farmland protection that has operated in Ontario for decades.

The June 2024 decision, if left unchallenged, could lead to unsustainable property tax increases in the coming years, with major impacts on all Caledon residents.
