Caledon for the Community January 29, 2025, Webinar # 1 hosted by Democracy Caledon. In the first of what we intend to be a series of online webinars, we discuss how the Town of Caledon is making decisions these days and how they're fast-tracking development approvals. Using the January 14th Council decision to approve the Brookvalley development application (in pre-zoned Block A4) as an example, we consider the possible implications of "developer-led" planning on our financial health and community well-being. This webinar is an introduction for an upcoming in-person community meeting hosted by Democracy Caledon (details to follow) where we'll explore concerns with a number of massive developments in south Caledon, such as the Brookvalley (pre-zoned Block A4, Old School & McLaughlin Rd) and Alloa Argo (pre-zoned Block A1, Mayfield & Chinguacousy Rd) secondary and draft plans of subdivision.

On December 11 2024, Democracy Caledon held a public information session to share recent developments and details pertaining to the filing of a notice of application in the Ontario Court of Justice arguing that Caledon Council's approval of the zoning bylaws does not conform to the Official Plans of Caledon and Peel Region and can be quashed for illegality under Section 273 of the Municipal Act. This video outlines the details of our action and how community members can become involved.
